Engineering Research Center on Technology Transfer
(T2RERC)
http://cosmos.ot.buffalo.edu/t2rerc/index.html
This
is a federally funded Center whose mission is
to facilitate the transfer and commercialization of
innovative technologies to the marketplace for
people with disabilities and the elderly. The T2RERC
website provides an overview of the technology
transfer process as it relates to assistive and
trans-generational technology.
National Rehabilitative Information Center

This is an online
gateway to an abundance of disability- and
rehabilitation-oriented information organized in a
variety of formats.
National
Center for Medical and Rehabilitation Research
http://www.nichd.nih.gov/about/org/ncmrr/
The mission of the NCMRR
(a division of the National Institute of Child
Health & Human Development) is to foster development
of scientific knowledge needed to enhance the
health, productivity, independence, and quality of
life of persons with disabilities. This is
accomplished by supporting research on enhancing the
functioning of people with disabilities in daily
life.
National Institute on
Disability and Rehabilitation Research
(NIDRR)
http://www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/osers/nidrr/about.html
As part of the
Department of Education, the mission of the NIDRR is
to generate, disseminate and promote new knowledge
to improve the options available to disabled
persons. The ultimate goal is to allow these
individuals to perform their regular activities in
the community and to bolster society’s ability to
provide full opportunities and appropriate supports
for its disabled citizens. Toward this end, NIDRR
conducts comprehensive and coordinated programs of
research and related activities to maximize the full
inclusion, social integration, employment and
independent living of individuals of all ages with
disabilities. NIDRR’s focus includes research in
areas such as employment; health and function;
technology for access and function; independent
living and community integration; and other
associated disability research areas.
National
Science Foundation, Biomedical Engineering Program
and Research to Aid Persons with Disabilities
Program (BME/RAPD)
http://www.nsf.gov/div/index.jsp?div=CBET
This Federal
organization supports research, often with diagnosis
or treatment-related goals that applies engineering
principles to problems in biology and medicine while
advancing the engineering knowledge base.
Integration of engineering expertise with life
science principles is an essential requirement for
advances in this field. The BME program emphasizes
basic engineering research that contributes to
better and more efficient health care delivery. The
RAPD program emphasizes basic engineering research
that aids persons with disabilities.
Rehabilitation
Engineering and Assistive Technology Association of
North America
http://www.resna.org/AboutRESNA/Mission/Mission.html
This is an
interdisciplinary association of people with a
common interest in technology and disability.
The purpose is to improve the potential of people
with disabilities to achieve their goals through the
use of technology. The organization serves
that purpose by promoting research, development,
education, advocacy and provision of technology; and
by supporting the people engaged in these
activities.
