Regional Network Initiatives

The FLC MAR is reaching out throughout its geographic region to interact with economic development groups, and with them, to interact with regional businesses and academia.  The purpose is to foster technology transfer, technology development, and economic growth. In each region, the FLC MAR assigns one of its members as a lead contact to work with regional activists, engaging them in planning efforts to interact with the technology community in their respective areas.  If you are a technology transfer professional and wish to participate, please call or e-mail the applicable FLC MAR contact in your region.  At present, the primary FLC MAR contacts for the regions are:

In each area, we began with small, general, informal meetings to explore opportunities of mutual interest.  Progressively, the meetings are getting larger, more inclusive of industry and academia and they are focusing more on the technical and commercialization needs of the individual areas.  The meetings provide opportunity to network with representatives from the Federal labs and other key players and to learn one-another’s needs, plans and programs as well as to learn more about opportunities to transfer cutting edge technologies for private sector business growth and development and to bring technologies of interest to the federal laboratories.

DC Area

The FLC MAR DC Area is comprised of the District of Columbia and its Maryland and Virginia suburbs.  It is the home of all of the Agencies and many Federal laboratories, including NIH, NIST, NOAA, FDA, NASA-GSFC, USDA-ARS-Beltsville, the NSWC-Carderock, NSA, Army Medical, Navy Medical and NGA, to name only some of them.
